Special Events

Auction
This annual spring fundraising gala for adults includes dinner, lots of dancing and revelry, and both a silent and live auction. Planners, organizers, solicitors, decorators, caterers, and financial wizards are just some of the types we look for to volunteer for our biggest event of the year. Contact Alex Mountjoy , Auction Committee Chairperson.

Book Fair
The Book Fair, held in early December, is our annual fundraiser for the library. Help create, organize, or staff the event. Contact Donna Cates, Events Committee Co-Chair.

Harvest Fair & Fairy Festival
These fairs, held in the fall and spring in the garden, are our version of an old-fashioned country fair for the whole family, complete with food, games, crafts, and entertainment. Each class is responsible for one aspect of the fair, and parents pitch in to help organize and run the events. Contact Joy Brown or Donna Cates, Events Committee Co-Chairs.

Renaissance Fridays
Renaissance Fridays, held several times during the school year, are a unique opportunity for our middle school students to take two-hour, small group classes from staff or parents on any subject that they would like to teach. Previous classes have included cooking, sports, computer graphics, or jewelry making. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate these days or to teach a class. Contact Gina Keough, Renaissance Fridays Coordinator.

Ongoing

Art Docent
We have a great art program that brings beautiful art projects into the classrooms for our children. Contact Tania Prosser, Art Docents Coordinator.

Class Liaison
Ensure your classroom is up to date on what is going on with the Ark. This can be done by setting up a message board in the classroom, organizing a phone tree, and/or maintaining an email list for parents. Contact Emma Donovan, Class Liaisons Coordinator.

Drama
Follow in the footsteps of our own Jane Kleimo and help put on the renowned middle school play. These annual productions are spectacular, darling! Contact Kaye Martin, Drama Program Coordinator.

Garden Docent
You can help out in the garden in many ways: by assisting students during weekly garden classes, attending weekly weeding and tea parties, helping with outreach (Web page support, newsletters, signage) and special events (Harvest Fair, Fairy Festival). Contact Laurel Anderson, Garden Coordinator.

Library
Duties can be as simple as shelving books, reading to kids, or helping them select appropriate reading materials. There are also opportunities to be more involved with day-to-day operations, collection development, and other aspects of building our wonderful library. Contact Laurie Prothro, Librarian.

Marketing
We are looking for parents who want to help with public relations, photography, graphics, and signs. Contact Emma Donovan, Volunteer Coordinator.

Merchant Rebates
Merchant rebate programs, such as eScrip and Community Smart, are easy ways to raise money for our schools. Participating supermarkets and retailers make cash donations to Harmony Ark, based on a percentage of your purchases. We need volunteers to help promote these programs. Contact Teresa Book Webster, Merchant Rebates Coordinator.

Refreshments
Provide, bake, and/or serve refreshments at Harmony Ark’s events and monthly meetings. Contact Kaye Martin.

Room Parent
Help your child’s teacher and classroom by coordinating activities and communicating with families. Contact the teacher directly.

Staff Appreciation
Help plan and coordinate activities that show our school staff how much we care. Contact Kaye Martin or Audrey Vorkoeper, Staff Appreciation Coordinators.
