The Salmon Creek Harmony ARK (shARK) is the Education Foundation on campus--similar to a PTA.  Membership is open to all parents, students, teachers, and staff of Harmony Elementary and Salmon Creek Middle Schools, and the Occidental community at large.
ShARK provides financial and volunteer support to the school district in ways that expand and enhance the many rich offerings that make our school unique.  A small sample of shARK contributions over the years include both playground structures, expansion of the school garden program, after-school enrichment classes, subsidized field trips, and many school-wide celebrations and events.

This support is provided EXCLUSIVELY by parent volunteers and financial contributions from our community.  The participation of families is essential to shARK’s success. We encourage all parents and community members to contribute your time, talent and financial support

ShARK meetings are generally held monthly during the school year, alternating between in-person and Zoom, mornings and evenings, in order to accommodate different schedules.

Next meeting is
Tuesday, Nov 16th, 8:35am-10:00 am, at Howards Cafe in Occidental.

If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, please connect with us in person, drop a note in the shARK box in the school office, or email

Salmon Creek Harmony ARK Education Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of students within the Harmony Union School District. Click here to visit the school website.

Since 1989, the ARK has worked to fill gaps between State funding for education and the needs of our children at Harmony Elementary School and Salmon Creek Middle School. We have raised tens of thousands of dollars, improved and expanded programs at our schools, and created a dynamic parent group in the process.

We invite you to explore these pages in order to learn more about the Harmony Ark, the needs of our students, and ways that you can contribute or get involved.
